About us

We at Barum Mower Club are a group of slightly unhinged people based around North Devon who at weekends seek enjoyment from racing around at high speeds on altered ride on lawn mowers getting dirty and raising money for local charities. In previous years we have raised money for the MS Society, Care 4 Kids North Devon and North Devon Hospice. This year we have chosen Everything Ellie; if you would like to get involved with raising money we have a raffle for you to enter.

Although we all like to get those blades buzzing for a whizz around the garden to keep things trim, there are some people who are so revved up by their mowers that they’ve turned it into a motorsport. Make no mistake – lawnmower racing is a much loved pastime across the world, and involves everyone from kids with the need for speed to professional hobbyists who tend to and care for their prized racing mowers, right through to hot-blooded grandparents with a taste for some full throttle meadow mayhem.

Raising money for charities is the main reason for going away and racing, but it isn’t the only reason for all the travelling we do getting to events, we are one big mower family that consist of some young families, some older families and friends. After a hard days racing we get our cleanest glam rags on, head up to the bar and socialise with all the community’s, laugh, dance and sink a few too many pints before heading back to the pits for a well deserved sleep in our homes on wheels.
